Einar H. Hendrickson

Einar Hendrickson passed away peacefully on November 15, 2012 in Seattle, WA. He has gone to be with our Lord and Savior. He was born June 6, 1923 on Puget Island, WA. He was a longtime Seattle resident, devoted husband, father, grandfather, community leader, urban planner, and small business owner.

Einar graduated from Cathlamet High School, served as a navigator in the Armed Forces during WWII, followed by earning his BA from WSU. He was the recipient of two Masters Degrees from the University of Michigan in Urban Planning and Conservation of Natural Resources. He was active in community development activities and the neighborhood Lutheran Church.

In addition to a consulting practice he was employed as a City Planning Director in Vancouver, WA, Public Works Specialist at the University of Washington, Administrator for the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, Chief at U.S.A.I.D. Earthquake Rehabilitation Planning in El Salvador, and advised students taking correspondence courses in his field. His career came second to his primary love of his family, immediate and extended.

Survivors include his wife, Marlys Hendrickson; two sons, Bryan (Anne) and Bruce (Robyn); and four grandchildren Katie, Julia, Kyle and Riley Hendrickson; brother Robert, of Cathlamet, WA; many nieces and nephews; and hundreds of cousins he maintained contact with over the years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvar.

A private interment was held November 24.
