Writer celebrates local business successes

To The Eagle:

I want to celebrate the new investment and growth happening in and around Wahkiakum County. From the reopening of the Appelo Archives Coffee Shop and Bookstore to the new Diner on Main and Tall Tree Coffeehouse, it is amazing to see all the investment and reinvestment in our community. Our family and neighbors have all been enjoying the wonderful transformation of Skamokawa including the Landing, the Skamokawa Resort and Store, the Oasis and the Duck Inn. The Hotel Cathlamet, Scribbles Nail Spa, and Kullerful Bokuets in downtown Cathlamet will soon be joined by Silver Linings Antiques and Gifts. These are added to the Tsuga Gallery, Healing Matters, and there is more to come.

Beyond these visible businesses, C&H Smoked Fish has expanded its operations and looks for more growth in the future. The new Drop Anchor Brewery is coming in the late summer and is supported by local investors anxious to expand business activity at Port 1. Port 2 continues to move forward, adding its new office and making Vista Park more welcoming.

I applaud and congratulate all the individuals, families and organizations who believe in our beautiful county and are making the future better for all of us.

Sandi Benbrook Rieder
