The Lady Mules continue to struggle, losing the last four games. Still they find ways to shine.

Tori Wegdahl pitched all seven innings of the first game of their doubleheader against MWP last Wednesday and took the loss, 4-10. She struck out eight batters and walked three.

"It was a good game defensively," Assistant Coach Stacey Wegdahl said. "They just couldn't get their bats going. Our outfield really kept us in the game. Maddy Mace, Jessica Thomas, Shelby Robinson, Rayanna Carlon and Makenzie Anderson deserve a lot of credit for keeping us in the game defensively."

The Lady Mules lost the second game 8-11.

Marissa Baker was the starting pitcher in game two and struggled early. Wegdahl relieved her in the second inning and struck out three.

"Our bats were much more alive this game and we did well defensively," Wegdahl said. Makenzie Anderson had wheels out in centerfield making a couple amazing catches, robbing one MWP player of a home run."

Mace went 2-3 at bat with a single. Elliott was 2-4 and Boyce was 1-3. T. Wegdahl was 2-3 with a single, a home run and four RBIs. LaBerge was 1-4, as was Thompson, who hit a single with Katie Johnson acting as her pinch runner.

Stacey Wegdahl praised outfielders Shelby Robinson, Makenzie Anderson and short stop Maddy Mace for their defensive work.

"Adna had 11 hits and we had 10," Wegdahl said. "We had too many errors and we will be working on shoring up those errors before district starts."

Baker was the starting pitcher in game two and Wegdahl came in for relief. The game ended after three innings due to the run rule. Sam Boyce managed to hit a triple in her one time at bat.

"Game two was rough," Wegdahl said. "In between down pours we attempted to get out of an early jam."

A final game has been added to the Lady Mules' season. They will play Ilwaco at home on May 13 at 4 p.m. The Lady Mules are in seventh place in league with a 6-11 record and district play begins May 18.
