Sheriff's Report, July 23, 2015

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 13 — 3:22 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a log truck that was continually parked in front of a fire hydrant. 4:50 p.m. A caller reported that trees had fallen on SR 4 just west of Nassa Point.

July 14 — 2:01 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a large pig was missing. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office had received several calls from someone who had found a large pig, and the pig was returned to his owners. 7:30 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that someone had entered her house while she was gone because items were missing and it smelled of cigarette smoke. During an investigation, a neighbor acknowledged entering the home and taking the items, as he believed his neighbor had permanently moved to another location. The caller said she would work with the neighbor to get her items back. 2:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist to a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 7:47 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a power outage in the Elochoman Valley. The PUD was notified. 10:17 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that an individual had damaged her vehicle while stealing her riding lawnmower. She witnessed the lawnmower being driven up a neighbor’s driveway. The resident called back 18 minutes later to report that the lawnmower had been returned, that it had been damaged as well and that she had been assaulted. She refused an ambulance. 10:31 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who was complaining of dizziness.

July 15 — 9:31 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained that domesticated geese were destroying his property. 10:22 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a woman falling out of a car on an Elochoman Valley road. A mental health professional was contacted. 3:30 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire on Puget Island. 3:43 p.m. A caller reported finding a wallet on the side of Beaver Creek Road. 4:20 p.m. A Rosedale business reported that an individual had moved their dumpster into the parking lot. 5:15 p.m. A vehicle hit a deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 8:29 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to an alarm at a Cathlamet address. 9:22 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a bicycle had been stolen. 10:34 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to an alarm at a Cathlamet address.

July 16 — 1:43 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that she had received another harassing phone call. The calls have been ongoing since the first of July. 7:27 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported cows on his property. The owners were notified. 8:32 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a juvenile was acting out. The father and a mental health advocate responded. 11:17 a.m. A caller reported that a juvenile claiming to be a runaway had come into his Rosedale business. 11:59 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor had started an illegal burn. 8:26 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a neighbor’s cows were out. 10:21 p.m. There was a report of possible witness tampering. 10:36 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 near Nassa Point.

July 17 — 2:34 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that someone had attempted to open her front door. The subject took off when she threatened to shoot. A deputy responded. 3:33 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a cow was loose. 6:46 a.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned about her ex-husband’s behavior. They had had a verbal fight, and he was armed. 1:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained that a neighbor had been dumping garbage into the river. 5:56 p.m. Deputies responded to the report of shots being fired in the Elochoman Valley. 6:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had cut his finger.

July 18 — 10:47 a.m. A vehicle struck a deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 11:43 a.m. A caller complained that vehicles parked on a Cathlamet street on Bald Eagle Day were causing congestion. 12:24 p.m. Two cars were involved in an accident at a Rosedale business. No injuries were reported. 1:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a man having a seizure in front of a Cathlamet business. 2:35 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. 3:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing. 5:37 a.m. An attempted break in was reported at an Elochoman Valley residence. 10:05 p.m. A caller reported hearing someone yelling and crying in the Cathlamet area. 11:10 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded when a caller reported a campfire at a Skamokawa beach. The fire was extinguished and a warning was given. 11:15 p.m. A caller reported trespassers on a Puget Island property. After hearing a crash, the caller was on the phone again, reporting seeing a truck with something in the back.

July 19 — 12:34 a.m. A fight involving more than 20 people was reported at a Cathlamet restaurant. 2:13 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a woman with a fractured hand. 5:38 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported two more harassing phone calls during the night. 2:40 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. A responsible party was contacted. 2:47 a.m. A caller reported that a boater appeared to be stuck on a nearby island. The US Coast Guard was notified, and the subject was rescued. 5:12 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a fire near County Line Park. It turned out to be from a barbecue. 7:42 p.m. A caller reported that someone was intoxicated and running into things at a Skamokawa park. A call came in requesting that he be removed from his campsite. His girlfriend had already left. The individual was taken into custody for assault and possible DUI. 8:36 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that her spouse had violated an order of protection.

July 20 — 6:05 a.m. A caller reported a tree down on a Rosburg road. 9:25 a.m. A caller reported a chemical smell in Cathlamet.
