The Wahkiakum High School Lady Mules secured a berth at state by beating Friday Harbor 67-53 in regional play on Saturday. The State 2B Tournament is March 3-5 in Spokane.

Peyton Souvenir had a big night with 29 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Macie Elliott had a big night as well, finishing with a double double, 18 points and 11 rebounds. Maddy Mace scored seven points. Sydney Hansen and Ellie Leitz added four points each. Leitz also had five rebounds. Savannah Burdick scored three points.

"We're super excited," Coach Rob Garrett said. "Friday Harbor played a really good game. They shot better than anyone anticipated.

"Our posts stepped up big with offensive rebounds," he continued. "They did a really good job boxing out. That was huge. Without that, we would not have won that game.

"Peyton, hands down, played the best game of her season tonight. She hit some big shots. It seemed like every time we needed to get something going, she was able to create something for her teammates or make a huge shot herself. It was probably Macie's best game of the season as well. I think she took a big step forward tonight, individually."

Garrett also praised Mace for being efficient on offense, and some key plays by Hansen and Burdick.

"Everybody contributed, Garrett said. It was good to have a full team effort. We're thrilled to be going back to Spokane."
