Sheriff's Report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of cases this past week, including:

April 28--11:16 a.m. A Middle Valley resident said new neighbors are taking down fences; an officer made contact. 2:44 p.m. The Cathalmet ambulance responded to the Wahkiakum Family Practice Clinic to aid a boy with abdominal pain; he was trasnported to a hospital. 4:13 p.m. A caller said people had taken up residence on Hornstra's Beach by the game refuge; a deputy was advised.

April 29--3:30 a.m. A motorist said an unoccupied car was parked off SR 4 in an area where telephone lines were stolen; deputies investigated; a man arrested in Cowlitz County was wanted for questioning about the downed lines. 2:10 p.m. An East Valley resident said a neighbor had broken a restraining order; a deputy was advised. 7:33 p.m. A person reported a boat was beached on White's Island; deputies were advised. 7:43 p.m. The Cathalmet ambulance responded to a Puget Island residence to aid a woman with chest pain; she was taken to a hospital. 11:54 p.m. A caller reported someone was harassing a witness; a deputy investigated.

April 30--9:06 a.m. A West Valley resident said two dogs had been abandoned; a deputy investigated. 9:55 a.m. The Cathalmet ambulance responded to the clinic to aid a man who was very ill; he was taken to a hospital. 7:51 p.m. A deputy arrested a driver at a traffic stop on two warrants of arrest.

May 1--9:12 a.m. An East Birnie Slough Road resident reported finding beef cattle in the front yard; the owner was notified. 1:44 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone was keeping a pit bull inside the city limits. 8:35 p.m. Skamokawa firemen responded to a chimney fire at a West Valley residence.

May 2--3:15 a.m. The Cathalmet ambulance responded to the nursing home to aid a man with a bleeding problem; he was taken to a hospital. 9:10 a.m. A Grays River resident reported almost being hit by a speeding driver on Hull Creek Road. 1:32 p.m. A Cathalmet resident reported a case of child abuse; a deputy investigated. 4:03 p.m. A motorist reported finding a two-year-old boy on the Elochman Valley Road and no adult was around; Childrens Protective Services was notified. 7:14 p.m. A case of child abuse was reported in the Cathlamet area; a deputy was advised. 9:41 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported receiving obscene phone calls; Caller ID led to a disconnected number.

May 3--2:17 p.m. A pickup collided with a mail carrier's car on SR 409, Puget Island; the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to take a driver to a hospital for evaluation. 8:12 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported illegal drug activity; officers investigated.

May 4--3:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley residence to aid a woman with breathing trouble; she was taken to a hospital. 9:21 a.m. The Grays River amubulance took a man with breathing trouble to a hospital. 12:32 a.m. A caller reported seeing a man and woman fighting on Middle Valley Road; they were gone when an officer arrived. 12:56 p.m. A motorist reported a traffic accident on KM Mountain; the state patrol was advised; the Cathlamet ambulance took a person involved in the accident to a hospital. 4:04 p.m. Officers arrested a person in Cathlamet on two warrants from Everett. 6:51 p.m. A caller said a woman was doing drugs on Main Street; an officer made contact. 7:36 p.m. A person reported children were riding four-wheelers on Puget Island; an officer made contact.
