WITH APPRECIATION: Thanks to the efforts of the Wahkiakum County Chamber of Commerce and the community, the eagles soared high over the Bald Eagle Days this year! Just like the terrific fireworks display, the festival lit up the community for locals and visitors alike. Portland Yacht Club (PYC) was honored to be awarded the Grand Prize trophy again this year for our entry in the parade. It was fun depicting the many elements of Wahkiakum County incorporated in this year' s theme, "Farms, Families, Fish and Forests" and we were pleased to support local community activities including the Farmers Market at the Elochoman Slough Marina and Wahkiakum County 4-H programs. While it takes a lot of work to produce a large "float" for the parade, the smiles on the faces of the children and adults who lined the parade and the response from the community made it all worthwhile. The Bank of the Pacific team did a wonderful job with the parade logistics, the Kiwanis had a terrific pancake breakfast and the Elochoman Marina staff did a great job again this year. 24 large boats from PYC were moored at the marina, several members utilized the RV park and marina cabins and others drove to Cathlamet. All in all, more than 80 members were here to participate in Bald Eagle Days and to a person, they had a great time in Cathlamet. As residents of Wahkiakum County and members of Portland Yacht Club, we're proud to be part of this community. Thank you all for a wonderful time! Becky Belangy Cliff Stephens Ken Park Pam Sesar
