Kayaking, August 1, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 10 and up, $25.
CSI Academy, August 1, 2-3 p.m., ages seven and up, free.

field trip tomorrow
The St. James Family Center Childcare Program has organized a field trip to Triangle Bowl in Longview.
Children will have lunch and do some bowling at Triangle Bowl and stop at a playground at a park on Lake Sacajawea.
The trip will leave the family center at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) and return by 4 p.m. Children must be enrolled in the childcare program to take part; there are no additional costs.

available for exhibit
The Friends of Skamokawa still have openings for their exhibit in late August entitled "For the Birds."
Organizers are seeking artists and crafters interested in entering the exhibit with items relating to the birds of the Lower Columbia region to contact Redmen Hall. The items on display, which can include paintings, wood carvings, blown glass, ceramics, photographs, birdhouses, will be for sale. The exhibit will run from August 18 to September 30. Those interested in selling items are asked to contact Pam Emery or Jill Hatier at the hall at 795-3007.
Gospel group comes to local church
The Gospel Tradition music group will be performing at the River of Life Assembly of God in Cathlamet on August 12 beginning at 6 p.m.
The Gospel Tradition is an Arizona-based, “live” music group sporting a musical style characterized by southern gospel vocal harmony superimposed over the instrumental tradition of Appalachia.
The Gospel Tradition is based in Cochise County, Ariz. and perform in churches, senior centers, festivals and community events.
The band is comprised entirely of the Bost family , Jeff on lead guitar/banjo, Pamela on bass, Michal on pedal steel/mandolin, Faith on fiddle/piano and Liberty on guitar/piano with younger members of the family also singing and playing.
