The undefeated Naselle Comet football team will meet the Wahkiakum Mule team in Naselle on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the crossover with Central League. Go Comets!

Coming up soon is the annual Naselle Lutheran Church Holiday Bazaar which is set for November 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lots of baked goodies and hand made items for sale. Check out the church’s social hall which will feature Christmas trees trimmed in handcrafted ornaments, along with other items for your purchase.

The baked goods section will include almond croissants, jam parfaits, pies, roasted nuts, candies, cardamom breads and cookies also for sale.

While you are there, take advantage of their nice hot soup lunch with a coffee bar and dessert.

If you missed the Friendship Circle’s beef stew luncheon and bazaar at the Grays River United Methodist Church last Saturday, you missed a good time. The stew (I elected to do take-out) was absolutely delicious once again. I picked up a plate of cookies, a marionberry pie and a peach pie, as well as a few gifts for some family members. Thank you so much ladies for making this an annual affair, and doing it in such an inviting manner. See you again next year.

A huge thank you to the community for making the second annual All Hallows/Harvest Evening such a success. The kids and even some of the adults had a great time if all the smiles I saw were real. Lots of candy and games for everyone made for a fun time. Most of the folks I talked to said they will be looking forward to next year as well.

Events such as this don’t just happen. It takes lots of planning and coordination to bring them to a successful end. With that said, the Johnson Park Advisory Board is to be commended for their efforts and volunteerism. Also, thank you to the folks who handed out candy to the trick or treaters, the kitchen helpers, the game coordinators and especially the various donations from Wahkiakum West, Okie’s Select Market, Rosburg Store, Naselle Hardware, Naselle Rock, Alan and Penny Gregory, Del and Trudy Fredrickson, Jim and Lilah Lincoln, Rick and Cindy Lahti, Bill Karwowski, Kathy Rostad, Steve and Linda Ramsay and everyone who took time to attend.

The annual Holiday Open House at Redmen Hall in Skamokawa will be held this year on November 25 and 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and November 27, December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18 from noon to 4 p.m. Their location is 1394 SR 4, Skamokawa. For more information, contact Diane Stockhouse at 849-4145.

This is the weekend for the annual Holiday Bazaar and lunch sponsored by the Rosburg Community Club at Rosburg Hall. The event will take place on November 5 and you can once again enjoy their famous baked chicken with their famous salad bar for a nominal fee as well as their baked goods for sale.

There will be lots of local hand made items for sale at the bazaar, so you can get some of your holiday shopping done. There may still be some spaces available if you are interested in selling your wares, and you can get more information by calling Barbara Rose at 465-2234.

On that note, the Wahkiakum County Fair Foundation will be on hand at the above mentioned sale, and they will be selling mail order wreaths and swags. This is a good opportunity to purchase your holiday decorations and support our fairground improvements. This is a volunteer group which meets on the first Tuesday of the month at the meeting room next to the Skamokawa Store.

The Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets at Rosburg Hall every week for a delicious meal and good company. Pat Potter and her volunteer crew do a great job of taking care of our senior resident’s nutritional needs at least one day a week. Thanks Pat.

CAP also sponsors lunch for seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the same location. It’s nice to know that nutritional meals are served three days a week for our seniors, in such a friendly setting.
