Fourth of July holiday brings family and fun

We have had an almost wonderful visit with our nephew and niece from Yucca Valley, California this past week. I say “almost” because our well decided to give us some problems. Fortunately, my nephew Mark is a plumber, so hopefully we will have no more issues when he returns home at the end of the week. Actually, by giving him a hand, I have learned a few things as well.

“Storytime” at the Grays River Valley Library will continue on June 28 at 10 a.m. for your tots. Age appropriate stories will be read with your child. I’m told we will have a guest reader this week. Come on in and enjoy a fun morning with your child.

Free Friday night movies continue at the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. Watch a recently run movie on our big screen with HD projection and surround sound. The movie is free and concessions are available. The first and fourth Friday night movies are family friendly, so bring the kids and enjoy.

This coming Saturday, June 29, you can check out the annual yard sale sponsored by Search and Rescue in the parking lot of the Bank of the Pacific branch in Cathlamet from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is a major fundraiser benefitting Wahkiakum County Search and Rescue.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets weekly at the Rosburg Hall for a delicious home-cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Rosburg Senior Community Lunches are also served at the above location and are sponsored by CAP. Seniors in our area are certainly lucky to have the opportunity to eat nutritious meals served three days a week. Come to enjoy good food and good company.

Happy Birthday to Amber Haataia, Mitzi Hunter, Lynn Boyle, John Hess, Adelynn Meghan Crozier, Henry Varila, Garth Ullakko, Madison Headley, Samantha Donlon, Andrew Nortrup, Keegan Magee, Don Raistakka, Jason Stephan, Debbie Welsh, Jennifer Smith, Dan Wilson, Cherise Bjornsgard, Jamie Eastham, Taylor Rose Eaton and Courtney Lemon. Here’s hoping your special day was the best ever.

Happy Anniversary to Jon and Stephanie Gudmundsen, Rod and Darlene Ammer, Wilho and Kaisa Saari, Steve and Lori Smith, Cliff and Kaye Weimer and Brad and Crystal Lanz. Here’s wishing you many more.

I want to wish an extra special Happy Birthday to Judy Durrah. Thank you for all you do in our community, and for being the special friend that you are.

With the Fourth of July fast approaching, we are getting ready for another fun-filled few days with family and friends. Our property becomes a tent city, with lots of fun games, motorcycle riding, racing in the little car, Frisbee golf, paint ball wars, barbecuing, stories around the fire pit and just plain visiting with everyone. We look forward to a wonderful Fourth again this year, even though we will be missing three of our kids and their families.
