Westend news

I need to make a correction on the article from last week. The Rosburg Store will be serving hunters breakfast beginning at 6 a.m., not 5 a.m., I apologize for any inconvenience.

If you are interested in some good old fashioned sourdough, white or wheat bread, check out Norm Bolton’s fresh baked loaves now on sale at the Rosburg Store. The sourdough makes a delicious piece of French toast. A great breakfast treat and from a local store.

The Grays River Valley Library and Community Computer Center are now open with their regular hours for the time being. Monday from 3-7p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come in and see the new setup for both rooms. We think you will be impressed with the open and inviting atmosphere. We are still in the process of some construction and moving so please bear with us and our mess. It is almost done.

On Sunday, please join the congregation of the Grays River United Methodist Church in a farewell brunch for Pastor Pam Brokaw. She will become the pastor of Castle Rock and Winlock Methodist Churches in her new duties and she will be sincerely missed by the many whose lives she has touched in this community. Brunch will follow the 10 a.m. worship service. Everyone is welcome to attend and help the congregation show her how much her tenure here has meant to them.

The Covered Bridge Dinner is fast approaching with tickets still available. The event will be held inside the Grays River Covered Bridge on October 5. It’s still more than a month away, but I’m sure all the kids are looking forward to trick or treating. Just to let everyone know, there will be trick or treating once again at the Grays River Valley Center for kids of all ages beginning at 5 p.m. this year. There will also be a free movie and we will have popcorn and beverages in the concession area of the cafeteria which now houses our big screen for free Friday Night Movies. More information as the date approaches.

We had a delightful weekend with friends from California and then took the opportunity after they left to head down to Duffy’s Irish Pub for an evening of reggae music, meeting a few members of the community that we had never met, and visiting with a few we knew. It was a great time even though the weather was a little damp.
