Sports calendar for the Naselle Comet teams for the upcoming week include: Thursday, the 6th-girls basketball with South Bend in Naselle at 7 p.m.; Friday, the 7th-boys basketball at South Bend at 5:45 p.m.; Monday, the 10th-middle school boys basketball with North Beach at 5:45 p.m.; Wednesday, the 12th-middle school boys basketball at Menlo at 5:45 p.m. Go Comets!
Naselle’s annual Elocution Contest will be held this Friday, the 7th at 6 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
Naselle Knowledge Bowl teams will compete in regional competition on Friday, the 7th. For more information please contact the school.
The Comet Booster Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, the 11th at 5:30 p.m.
Naselle students will be dismissed early on Wednesday, the 12th, at 12:30 p.m. for teacher in-service.
Get ready for your spring gardening. Baker Creek Heirloom seeds are available now, non-GMO organic, at the little shop at Deep River Camp on SR 4 near Salme Hill in Naselle. Plants will also be available in early spring, including tomatoes, carrots, onions, cauliflower, cabbage, green beans, yellow beans, peas, beets, Brussel sprouts, broccoli and cucumbers. This is the weekend for the annual American Legion Auxiliary Smorgasbord and silent auction to be held in the Naselle High School Commons on Sunday, February 9th from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
They will be serving all you can eat salads, main dishes and their delicious home made pies and cakes for dessert. Prices for the meal are as follows: Adults and teens-$10, pre-teens-$6 and under 6-$2.
The food is prepared and served by the ladies of the American Legion Post #111 of Deep River and all the proceeds benefit our vets, local scholarships and charities. Enjoy a pre-Valentine’s Day outing and support a wonderful local group.
High school student Grace Zimmerman invites community members to attend another blood drive event taking place on Tuesday, February 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Valley Bible Church located at 4723 SR 4 West, in Rosburg.

Advanced tickets will go on sale for the 2nd annual Spaghetti Feed being held at the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park on Saturday, March 22. The tickets will be $10 each for all you can eat spaghetti and will be available next week. More information coming for this fundraiser.
A reminder that the Johnson Park Advisory Board is looking for a Tai Chi instructor to teach a class. If you know someone or you have experience in that realm, and would like to share your knowledge with others, please contact Penny Gregory at 465-2775 or call 465-2310.
We are also looking for someone with the desire to help others with exercise and use of the equipment we have available, and to oversee the safety and management of the exercise room. Remember, we also have a full size pool table available in the exercise room, if you’re up for a game or two.
Interested folks can get in on another free class at the Grays River Valley Library, and learn how to shop and post items for sale on E-Bay. The class will be held on Monday, March 10 from 1-3 p.m. in the library/computer center. For more info call 465-2310.
The TOPS group (take off pounds sensibly) will be changing their meeting room at the Grays River Valley Center. They will meet in the activity room at the north entrance of the building on Thursdays at 2 p.m. instead of the exercise room.

Free Friday Night movies at the Grays River Valley Center every week at 7 p.m. This week’s movie is a kid friendly animated show that is sure to entertain. Bring the family and enjoy an evening out. The Grays River United Methodist Church Friendship Circle’s Luncheon and Bazaar will be held on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can enjoy the hearty beef stew, delicious cheese bread, beverages and home made desserts in the social hall of the church located on SR 4 West in Grays River near milepost 18. The meal is by donation. The event will also include a bake sale and some new and repurposed items for sale at reasonable prices.

Tickets are on sale now for the annual Crab and Oyster Feed held at the Rosburg Hall and sponsored by the American Legion Deep River Post #111. There are only 200 tickets available and people come from miles away to get in on this feed. Admission is $28 and includes the dance afterwards. This year the event will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Here is your chance to do a little spring cleaning and possibly make a few bucks. You are invited as a vendor, group or individual to participate in a huge community indoor super sale that will be held at the Grays River Valley Center in the cafeteria on Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have tools, antiques, new, used or repurposed items that you would like to sell, you can reserve a table for only $10 each. Food, beverages and baked goods will be provided by the Friendship Circle of the Grays River United Methodist Church, and a massage clinic (with Bryon Parrino-Naselle Massage Clinic) will also be available during the sale hours.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week at the Rosburg Hall to enjoy a home cooked meal prepared by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew. Lunch is served at noon.
On Thursdays, senior lunches are also served at the above location and are sponsored by CAP. These two venues give our seniors an opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal and some socializing as well. Check them out.
