Writer sends Valentine’s Day wishes

Happy Valentine’s Day to all the Eagle readers and staff. I feel very blessed this day for the love of family and friends. These past few months have not been the most wonderful of my life but things are certainly looking up. Thank you, everyone, for all your good thoughts, deeds, prayers and encouragement after my husband’s stroke.

Signs of spring are appearing now

Sitting in the hot tub in the evenings this past week, I have been hearing the frogs singing. A few eagles are perched in the trees overlooking the Grays River, looking for fish. Robins are congregating on the lawn in the mornings, daffodil plants are poking up through the soil and the skunk cabbage is also showing signs of life.

Soup on at Johnson Park this Sunday

Even though the temperatures have been really cold, the sunshine has been a welcome sight. We should see more of it in the next few days according to the weather news. Here’s hoping.

I want to share information about an event occurring on Sunday from noon to three p.m. at the J.A. Wendt School multipurpose room. This is a fundraiser for a Puget Island resident, Mike Phelps, who suffered a stroke that has left him unable to walk or use his hand and made speech difficult.

Bazaars, home tours on holiday schedule

Well, folks, we are now sitting on waterfront property once again. We could conceivably row straight across the field to the Covered Bridge but the current is such that it probably wouldn’t be such a good idea.
