Mules knock off opponents

The Wahkiakum Mule boys basketball team knocked off a variety of opponents in action this past week.

Last Saturday, the Mules outshot Class 1A LaCenter 85-70 in a non-league game. The Wildcats led 16-13 after one quarter, but the Mules got going in the second, outscoring their hosts 25-12, to lead 38-28 at halftime. From there, the LaCenter defense was never able to slow down the Mule offense.

Toby David led the Mule scoring with 26 points. Ty Briscoe added 14; Romeo Savant and Damien Deaton each had 14; Travis Bain nine, and Brandon Ferguson, Josh Gerlach and Bud Hamman each had two. Savant had 10 rebounds, and Briscoe had nine. Bain made 10 assists, and David made three steals.
Kash Kelly led the Wildcats with 36 points.

On January 5, the Mules routed the Vancouver Christian Light 81-40. They led 13-6 after one quarter and 32-11 at halftime.
David led balanced scoring with 21 points. Bain scored 15; Briscoe and Ferguson each had 10; Savant nine; Gerlach, Hamman, Brendan McClain and Cody Olsen each had four.
Bain made 11 assists; Ferguson had five steals, and a Savant grabbed eight rebounds.

The Mules were at White Pass last night. They host the Pe Ell Trojans on Friday and go to Napavine on Wednesday.
