Wahkiakum Family Practice Clinic recently obtained a new scale and phone system.
The new phone system was to be installed yesterday (Wednesday), according to an announcement from the clinic. The new phone system will allow patients greater access to services in the clinic, the announcement said. The system will allow patients to direct their calls to the appointment desk, nurse, billing office or manager by selecting an extension.

The new system also offers voice mail for non-urgent calls.
Clinic staff are on duty Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. An answering service handles after hours calls.

A $1,000 grant from the Wahkiakum Community Foundation helped purchase the new scale.
The scale has hand rails for people who are unsteady on their feet, and its high capacity digital scale is extremely accurate, the announcement said.
