Lower Columbia PFLAG is hosting a group meeting for people with gay friends or family members Sunday in Cathlamet. The meeting will be at 5 p.m. at St. James Family Center, 1134 Columbia Street.
PFLAG stands for Parents, Friends and Family of Lesbians and Gays. It offers support groups for people with gay family or friends.
Participants say that when parents first find out that their child is gay, they often experience fear and confusion amidst all the misinformation, myths and stereotypes about gay people. The group is an opportunity for participants to get factual information to answer their questions and to talk with other parents who can understand what they've been through.
The meeting is also open to gays and lesbians who wish to talk about these issues.
People's confidentiality is respected.
