The Inn at Lucky Mud, Skamokawa, will host folk musicians Stewart and Betty Hendrickson with Jerry Middaugh on Saturday at 5 p.m. Stewart plays traditional songs and fiddle tunes from the British Isles and America. He plays in local Irish sessions and open mics, and has performed at the Northwest Folklife Festival. Betty plays traditional music on a hammered dulcimer--a lovely stringed instrument that is played with wooden hammers. Rooted in old fashioned music and folk songs, Jerry has played in various old-time string bands, bluegrass groups, and related folk music ensembles. His repertoire includes songs about work, trains, cowboys, hobos, loss, women, and philosophy. The Wahkiakum Acoustic Guitar Society is sponsoring the event. Admission is $12. Call the Inn at Lucky Mud, 795-8667, to register. The next day on Sunday at noon, Betty will do an informal workshop on what the hammered dulcimer is all about. Price of that hour-long event is $10. The Wahkiakum Acoustic Guitar Society (WAGS) is a group of local guitar players getting together to share a diverse range of acoustical styles and to exchange tips, picks, and licks with like-minded guitar enthusiasts. Acoustic guitar players of all levels and styles are welcome. The group meets at 7 p.m. on the last and first Wednesdays of each month, usually at the Inn at Lucky Mud, East Valley Road, Skamokawa. To join or obtain more information, see http://guitarsociety.wahkiakum.info/ or contact society members Rick Nelson, Sunrise Fletcher or Doug Sheresh.
