A project to pave and provide safety improvements to SR 4, from Coal Creek to I-5, will begin early this summer, announced the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
This contract was awarded to Lakeside Industries, Inc. of Longview who submitted the winning bid of $4,923, 673.
The project will pave and provide safety improvements to State Route 4, from Coal Creek to I-5. Through this project, just over seven miles of highway will be paved. Portions of the highway were last paved between 1979 and 1990. The new surface will provide a smoother ride for motorists and extend the life of the roadway. In addition, safety upgrades will be made, including improving sidewalk ramps to ADA standards, replacing non-standard guardrail, upgrading median barrier curb, restoring pavement markings and replacing signs.
Due to heavy daytime traffic through the project area, the majority of the work will be completed at night. Single lane closures are to be expected both day and night with restrictions placed on certain hours of the day. Residents and businesses located on State Route 4 will be notified in advance when paving will take place in their area.
