It is with a great deal of pleasure that I have the opportunity to introduce to you, at least in writing, our new Fair Manager! She is Kathleen Morgain of Skamokawa. She and her husband make their home in Swedetown, so her commute is just a walk across the foot bridge.
Kathleen has extensive experience in promotional work having worked in the production department of Seattle's KOMO 4. She and her husband have owned property in Skamokawa for several years and until recently the hope of becoming part of the community was still in the future. But now Skamokawa is their permanent home and is there a better way of becoming part of the community than through the County Fair?

Kathleen is already busily making contacts, learning about various aspects of what brings the events of the fair together, and most importantly, learning about the heart of county fairs. I believe she'll be a great asset and hopefully you'll come to the fair and wish her well.
The fair dates are August 16, 17 and 18 and while there is still much to do on flood damage cleanup, the work is coming along very well. The area required for the Dollars for Scholars and Classic Car Show this coming weekend will be ready to welcome all coming for that event. In some areas, you will have to excuse our sawdust and paint buckets, but all will be ready for the Fair. By the first week in June, we could use some volunteers to do some painting. Nothing difficult, benches, tables, hand rails. Some of the work will require sanding so bring gloves and maybe glasses or goggles.
The Fair Board is anxious to sign up high school ladies for the Fair Princess program. Please call the fair office at 795-3480 and you'll be referred to the board member in charge of the program. Each of the girls participating will receive very nice benefits including a scholarship to the Queen, clothing allowance and a fun day trip for all.

This will be my last submission but it has been my privilege to have served the Fair as its Interim Manager since last fair season. I've had a great crew to work with and we'll continue working together until the flood cleanup is completed which should be in another month. I do wish to thank the crew for their cooperation, their diligent work and support. Tim Crouse, Lesley Horman, Debbie Twiet, Bev Moonen, Brad McNally, Steve O'Hare, you are the best!
Be sure to prepare your exhibits for entry. If we don't have a category, we'll make one. See you at the fair!
