Filing for local positions that will be on fall election ballots ended last Friday with few surprises and only one contested race.
Two have filed for county commissioner to fill the unexpired term of the late Mark Linquist. They are Tom Doumit, an independent and the incumbent, and Blair Brady, who filed as a Democrat.
Auditor Diane Tischer said Monday that all the candidates who have filed pass through the primary election to the general election because there are no contested races for the primary; this includes state Senator Brian Hatfield, D-Raymond, who was unopposed for the remainder of the term to which he was appointed.
The only local that would be on the primary ballot would be a referendum advisory ballot from the county board of commissioners about public interest in forming a hospital district, but the board decided Tuesday to skip the advisory ballot and possibly run a measure to form a hospital district on the general election ballot.

Several positions drew no candidates; a special filing period started yesterday (Wednesday) and will run through Friday. If there are no candidates for the positions, the incumbents will serve until they are replaced, Tischer said.

David Goodroe, Cathlamet Town Council, Position 3, 4-year term, NP. Goodroe is the incumbent.
John Hannah, Cathlamet Town Council, Position 1, 4-year term. NP, Hannah is the incumbent.
Brett Deaton, Port District 1, Position 1, 6-year term, NP. Charlie DeDolph is the incumbent.
Tony Boyce, Wahkiakum School District Board of Directors, Position 1, 4-year term, NP. Tina Schubert was the incumbent.
Schubert filed for Wahkiakum School District Board of Directors, Position 2, 4-year term, NP. Todd Souvenir was the incumbent but didn't file. Schubert had moved into the district from the district she previously represented.
Wayne Holloway, Fire District 1, 6-year term. Holloway is the incumbent. All fire district positions are Non-Partisan.
Cathlamet Town Council, Position 2, 4-year term, NP, Walter Wright incumbent.
Naselle/Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors, Position 1, 4-year term, NP, Steve Sultemeier incumbent.
Fire District 3, 6-year term, NP, David White.
Fire District 4, 6-year term, NP, Larry Hendrickson, the incumbent.
