July 12, 2007 The Coast Guard will conduct a demonstration water rescue at the entrance to Elochoman slough during the coming Boat Festival, the Coast Guard Auxiliary has announced.
An auxiliary vessel will drop a dummy near Buoy No. 1. The helicopter will then send a rescue swimmer down to rescue the dummy and hoist it into the helicopter. There will be plenty of viewing area at the west side of the marina parking lot.
Following the demonstration, the crew plans to land in the field between the high school and the middle school. The public is invited to visit with the crew and inspect the aircraft. The demonstration is scheduled for July 22.
All plans are subject to change if required by operational considerations.
