- by Kathleen Morgain July 12, 2007 Ribbons – and Cash! The Fair is the premier opportunity to see the best of Wahkiakum County, all at one time and in one place. Local business and organization representatives take time away from the tyranny of the phone to chat face to face with newcomers and long time friends. Both candidates for this autumn’s County Commissioner’s race will be on hand, ready for questions and ideas. What does the Weed Board do? What is the Youth Adventure Program at the St. James Center? How can we get involved in 4-H?
The Entertainment Stage features some of the best of local music, with some big talent from our small part of the world. Come on down and try a sample, music is best when it’s live!
But the best part of the fair is its reflection of us, of our rural way of life, our interests, talents and endeavors, all demonstrated in the amazing variety of demonstrations and exhibits drawn from our out-of-the-way county. Photography, home canning, quilting, vegetables and fruit, collections, local history, baked goods, lace-making, sheep shearing and embroidery.
