Wahkiakum Dollars for Scholars recently awarded three local students non-traditional scholarships.
This year Jennifer L. Falconer will be awarded $750, Heather L. Kehrli will receive $500, as will Christopher Willette.
Non-traditional scholarships are awarded to Wahkiakum County residents who have previously graduated from high school and who are pursuing higher education at the community college or university level. Donations for this year's scholarship awards came from a number of sources, including the John C. Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The award decisions are based upon financial need, work experience, academic performance, community service and career goals. This year's scholarship committee included: Janet Cimino, Steven McClain, Kristen Sykes-David, Christopher Weiler and Mike Thomas.
