The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team lost a five-game match to Stevenson in the teams’ season opener on Tuesday. The Mules lost 19-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, 12-15. “It was a fantastic match,” Coach Patty Anderson commented, last year's Central League coach of the year. "The girls played very well; it was very competitive." Paige Kehrli had 26 points for the Mules, including perfect 16/16 serving. Sarah Jespersen had 10 kills and nine service points; Brandi Arness had seven kills and made great passes; Shelby Deaton made 16 blocks, and Brittney Robbins had seven service points and “played fantastic defense at libero,” Anderson said. The Mules have their first home match tonight (Thursday), 7 p.m., when they take on the WHS Mule Alumnae.
