
Larry Reese, the District 1 member of the Wahkiakum PUD board of commissioners, also announced this week that he is planning to run for a second six-year term. The position is non-partisan.
Filing for local offices runs June 2-6 in the Wahkiakum County Auditor's Office.
Positions on the ballot will also include:
* Wahkiakum County Commissioner District 2--Incumbent Dan Cothren is seeking re-election to a fourth term as an Independent; Wayne Flohr, a Wahkiakum Health and Human Services counselor, has also declared his candidacy for the position as a Democrat.
* Superior Court Judge for Wahkiakum County and Pacific County-- 4 year term, Michael Sullivan, incumbent. The position is non-partisan.
Because of a recent US Supreme Court decision, Washington will use its voter approved Top Two Primary this August.
County Auditor Diane Tischer has said that independent candidates no longer have to have a nominating convention; they will just file like other candidates and will be on the primary election ballot.
