The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Wahkiakum Port District #2 will host a Grand Reopening of County Line Park on Saturday, April 26 from 1-3 p.m. Located along the shore of the Columbia River between Longview and Cathlamet, County Line Park has long been popular for fishing and overnight camping. Attractive for its proximity for watching ships passing by, and for a sandy beach for fishing along the river, the park is a busy place most of the year.

The Park is owned by Wahkiakum County, but Port District #2 now operates the park after Cowlitz County decided they no longer wanted to be involved. Port District #2 invested $50,000 and Wahkiakum County matched that with another $50,000 for a total of $100,000 to be used to update the park. With that funding, the restroom building and bathrooms have been updated, a shower built, a new fish cleaning station installed, new signs in place, parking spaces developed at the three tent sites to the west of the bathrooms, and the rest of the parking upgraded.

New park hosts, Lew and Neenah Tromley, are now on site available to help visitors at the park. Twenty RV sites are available for camping with reservations needed. To make reservations for an RV site, contact Janet Bryan, Port Manager, at Vista Park in Skamokawa, at (360) 795-8605. Or the park hosts can assign a spot on site if any are available when visitors drive into County Line Park.

Port Commissioner, Kayrene Gilbertsen, stated, “We hope everyone comes out to see the upgrades and enjoy County Line Park at the Grand Re-Opening on the 26th. It’s a great place for riverside fishing and family fun.”
