Adult family home owner deals with change
The one and only adult family home (AFH) in the county has been owned and operated by Puget Island resident Beth Lorenzo for nearly 17 years.
Lone ferry bid double the estimate
Wahkiakum County officials were disappointed Tuesday when county commissioners opened the only bid they received to build a ferry to replace the aging "Wahkiakum." The only bidder, US Fabrication, bid $8.5 million, which was more than double the expected cost. The marine engineering firm which designed the new ferry, Elliott Bay Design Group, estimated the cost at $4,335,000.

A beach cleanup of the Grayland / South Beach area of Pacific County will be held on April 20 starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. Volunteers should check in at the Warrenton Cannery Road approach to pick up a garbage bag.
Missoula Theatre tryouts will be held Monday
The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will be visiting Cathlamet next week to perform Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with local students. All students grades K-12 are invited to tryouts beginning at 3:15 p.m. on April 22 in the Wendt Elementary multi-purpose room. The two performances will be held on April 27 at 3 and 5:30 p.m.
Plant Sale this Saturday, along with English Tea
The English Tea and Plant Sale is set for this Saturday, April 20, from noon to 3:30 pm., at St. James Family Center, 1134 Columbia Street, Cathlamet.
Film to be shown at Appelo Archives Center April 20
The Finnish film “Valo” will be shown April 20 at 11 a.m. at the Appelo Archives Center, located at 1056 SR 4 in Naselle. There is no admission charge.
