Evelyn Blix, 94, went to be home with the Lord on April 9, 2014. She was born on March 23, 1920 on Puget Island to Norwegian immigrant parents and graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1938.

Evelyn married Marvel Henning Blix in 1939 on Puget Island, and together they enjoyed trips to Canada, Alaska, Arizona and Mexico, and family celebrations. Evelyn also took pleasure in being a loving mother and homemaker, a grandmother and great-grandmother, providing hospitality to all. She enjoyed bird-watching, ship-watching, beach picnics, gardening and growing flowers. She was a member of Heritage Bible Church and Calvary Baptist Church.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Jerry Blix (Phyllis); daughter Sharon Gorley (Monty); sons Arvid Blix (Barbara) and Dennis Blix (Carol); eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, “Reb.”

She was preceded in death by parents Knute Nilsen and Vera Gustafson Badger, and her husband, Marvel.

A funeral service was held Sunday, April 13th at Heritage Bible Church on Puget Island with Pastor Ryan Frank officiating.

A private interment took place at Greenwood Cemetery Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Bible Church or Cowlitz Humane Society.
