County OK's radio upgrade

Wahkiakum County commissioners on Tuesday authorized the start of a major upgrade of the county's emergency radio services and heard reports and comments on issues ranging from floods to medical services.

Turkeys are not the only Christmas birds

Christmas is for the birds! That’s the annual message from the Audubon Society. Last week, volunteers from the Willapa Hills chapter of the Audubon Society braved rain, wind and snow to count a total of 115 bird species in parts of Wahkiakum, Clatsop and Cowlitz counties after Christmas.

Grays River Grange #124 had a very busy 2009. The year began with a flood. Thankfully, the Grange survived with minimal water in the entry but the water left with a muddy mess outside in the parking areas.

Family movie night this weekend

Finally! A theater in Wahkiakum ... well, almost. The Skamokawa Grange will host its first “Family Movie Night” celebration this weekend.
