Naselle students do well at knowledge bowl
On February 3, the Naselle knowledge bowl team Tri-Force team members Chandler Chapman, Cramer Smith, Levi Wasmundt, Beau Santjer, Trevin Leeland, and JP Cooley competed at the Southwest Washington Regional Knowledge Bowl competition at the ESD 113 office in Tumwater.

We had one day of sunshine and the grass started growing at the Fairgrounds. Thanks to Larry Hendrickson and Dean Seaberg the grass will be mowed, as they brought our equipment back last week.

Assessor, commissioners work on tax issues
Wahkiakum County commissioners on Tuesday adopted an ordinance setting tax levies for 2012 and worked on other items business with Assessor Bill Coons.
Library officials looking for temporary quarters
Wanted: A temporary home for Cathlamet's Bradley Memorial Library. Town officials plan to have the town hall building remodeled this year, and they want to move the library to temporary quarters while the work goes on.
County Treasurer Paula Holloway to retire
Wahkiakum County Treasurer Paula Holloway resigned her position effective the end of February. Holloway has been county treasurer for 22 years.
PUD considers how to update utility tax
Wahkiakum PUD commissioners discussed a coming increase in utility taxes at their February 7 meeting but took no action on the matter.

The Wahkiakum Mule boys basketball team travelled to Pe Ell last Thursday night and capped off the regular season with a 75-51 victory over the Trojans.

The Wahkiakum Mules wrestling team has begun post season performances with a powerful presentation at the sub-regional tournament.
Lady Mule JV's win 2 of 3 games
The Lady Mule junior varsity won two of their three games this past week, losing to Morton/White Pass 59-40 and Pe Ell 37-18 and Adna 44-42 in overtime on Tuesday.
Tigers, Ducks stop Lady Mules
The Wahkiakum Lady Mule basketball team ended the 2011-12 regular season with two losses that left them in a sixth place finish in Central League standings.
