Sheriff's Report, January 9, 2014

 

January 8, 2014



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 30 – 4:44 p.m. A caller on the east end of the county reported that people were trespassing and “up to no good.” One subject was located and upon further investigation it was discovered the subject had been intoxicated while riding the local bus.

December 31 – 1:40 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that duck hunters were trespassing, despite the property being clearly marked with “no trespassing” signs. 1:48 p.m. A caller reported a woman screaming at co-workers outside a Cathlamet business. 2:00 p.m. A caller reported a large boulder in the westbound lane of SR 4 near County Line Park. 3:04 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported the theft of several items from their home. 7:39 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported seeing flashes and smoke as well as hearing loud explosions and gunshots in the area; deputies made contact with the subjects. They had been exploding targets and agreed to stop.

January 1 – 12:19 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone was banging on their back door and trying doorknobs at the front and back of the house; a deputy and a family member checked the exterior of the home and nothing was found. 12:50 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained that neighbors were continuing to set off loud explosives after doing so all evening. 1:25 a.m. A local resident called to complain that a deputy had nearly hit him as he was walking along a roadway towards home. 10:44 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and blocking most of the roadway in the Elochoman Valley. 2:54 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a dispute over estate items. 4:02 p.m. A woman reported being assaulted; a domestic violence advocate was contacted. 6:15 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Deep River resident. 8:13 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a missing dog. He was concerned that his dog had been stolen; the dog never left the yard on her own and there were tire tracks in the front yard.

January 2 – 2:57 a.m. A Deep River resident reported hearing shots fired outside their home. 9:55 a.m. A caller reported that a truck had been dropping bags of garbage on SR 4. 12:16 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a resident that had cut off the tip of a finger. 12:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a woman who was having difficulty breathing to the hospital. 5:53 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported the theft of tools. 9:52 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to the report of a structure fire in Deep River. 11:21 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that two males had attempted to break into a truck and were scared away by the vehicle alarm.

January 3 – 3:51 p.m. A caller was attempting to get her things from the home she had shared with someone she now had a protection order against; she requested assistance. 5:51 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported trespassers who ran when they saw her. 6:16 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported being assaulted by her husband after confronting him about some drugs she found in the home; the husband was taken into custody and a domestic violence advocate was notified. 9:19 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a burglary; a suspect was taken into custody.

January 4 – 9:29 a.m. A caller reported a driver heading westbound on SR 4 was all over the roadway. 12:17 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had hit her boyfriend’s car. 2:08 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a missing dog. 6:18 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported hearing shots. 6:43 p.m. A caller reported that the Elochoman Valley road was “extremely slick.”

January 5 – 2:23 p.m. A caller reported seeing a person pulling scrap metal in a bike trailer on Puget Island. 4:36 p.m. A caller reported that hunters were shooting from a moving boat in Jackson’s Inlet.

January 6 – 7:47 a.m. A caller reported that a juvenile had a bat and was attempting to strike family members. 8:31 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that someone had attempted to break into the caller’s home that morning.
