Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 14 – 8:25 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious man sitting outside a Cathlamet bank. 11:28 a.m. A Grays River resident reported a possible case of fraud. 11:34 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that his social security number had been used fraudulently. 1:31 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an ailing Rosburg resident. 2:10 p.m. St. John Hospital was treating a victim of sexual assault and requested a deputy from Wahkiakum County. 5:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man who was ill. 5:53 p.m. A man who had recently been released from the local jail was asked to relocate to the marina after trying to spend the night in the parking lot of a Cathlamet business. 6:22 p.m. A motorist reported a large tree limb in the eastbound lane of SR 4 near Little Cape Horn. 6:37 p.m. A suspicious man was seen peering into a car; he jumped into a waiting vehicle and drove away after being spotted. 8:14 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle that was parked in the Elochoman Valley. 8:51 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about a vehicle blocking the roadway.

April 15 – 10:23 a.m. A caller requested assistance in recovering a firearm that had been dropped in the water at the marina. 10:28 a.m. A Deep River resident reported a burglary. 4:56 p.m. The sheriff’s office investigated the report of animal neglect in Skamokawa and determined that the complaint was unfounded. 6:45 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River resident with low blood pressure. 8:49 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual who was possibly mentally ill and homeless; the subject had been hanging out at a Cathlamet business for a couple days. 9:57 p.m. A caller reported a possible DUI speeding west on SR 4.

April 16 – 10:16 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported the theft of gas from a vehicle. 11:55 a.m. The sheriff’s office returned to a Skamokawa residence after another complaint of animal neglect; the Humane Society was contacted. 6:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Rosedale resident with respiratory issues.

April 17 – 1:40 p.m. A caller reported that a log truck was speeding and over the center line in the Elochoman Valley. 2:28 p.m. A caller was suspicious after finding an unoccupied truck broken down and loaded with cedar in the Elochoman Valley. 2:58 p.m. A suspicious man was seen going back and forth from bushes to a truck parked on the shoulder of a Deep River road; the caller was concerned that the individual was involved in recent thefts in the area.

April 18 – 8:03 a.m. A caller reported animal neglect in the Skamokawa area. 8:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale residence to aid an ailing individual. 9:51 a.m. A Rosedale business owner requested assistance in removing an unwanted individual from property. 10:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with a heart problem. 11:46 a.m. A caller reported being tailgated by a car moving erratically and at excessive speed on SR 4. 2:34 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a break in. 2:43 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet child who had fallen and hit his head. 4:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa business to aid a man who may have suffered a stroke. 5:36 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the Rosedale area; it was a false alarm. 6:18 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a vehicle was blocking his driveway. 11:20 p.m. A caller reported seeing a suspicious vehicle with its lights shining into a Rosburg business.

April 19 – 2:17 a.m. A Rosedale mother reported that her ex-boyfriend would not return her child; she was advised that this was a civil matter. 7:01 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident and renter reported that items had been stolen from his home and that he was locked out of his shop. 7:39 a.m. Kids were seen hanging from the side of stock trailer as it was traveling down a Skamokawa road.

April 20 – 1:50 p.m. A caller reported animal neglect in the Skamokawa area. 2:52 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a violation of a restraining order. 5:41 p.m. A caller was concerned about an agitated juvenile and requested a welfare check. 6:07 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to a fire at a Grays River residence.
