Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 5 – 5:59 a.m. A caller requested a check on someone who had driven into the Rosedale area and had begun to scatter newspapers around his parked vehicle. 10:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident with back pain. 2:47 p.m. Deputies investigated after an alarm was activated at a home on the east end of the county. 3:50 p.m. Deputies responded to the report of a domestic disturbance involving a juvenile and a parent at a Skamokawa home. 6:14 p.m. A caller was concerned about animal care at a neighboring Puget Island home.

May 6 – 8:21 a.m. The clinic requested transport from the Cathlamet ambulance for a young woman with breathing problems. 8:35 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to aid a woman who was having difficulty breathing. 10:21 a.m. A caller reported unauthorized data usage and was advised that it was a civil matter. 12:29 p.m. A caller reported that he had found a small dog on SR 4 near the Elochoman River Bridge. 12:54 p.m. A caller reported that someone had exceeded parking limits on Main Street in Cathlamet. 2:02 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported the theft of front plates from two vehicles. 2:28 p.m. A caller reported that he spoke to the clerk at a Rosedale business when the ATM did not issue him cash; according to the caller the clerk grabbed him and informed him that he owed money to the store. 9:50 p.m. A caller reported a water outage at the trailer and RV park in Rosedale; attempts to contact the responsible party were unsuccessful. 10:56 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a prowler.

May 7 – 7:06 a.m. A Deep River resident requested assistance in removing a squatter from property. 12:14 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a case of phone fraud. 4:13 p.m. A young student was reported missing after getting off at the wrong bus stop; the child was located.

May 8 – 10:57 a.m. A caller complained that a car left a puddle of oil at the county shop when it stopped by. 1:14 p.m. A five-year-old child was reportedly left alone at a Cathlamet residence; a welfare check was requested. 5:16 p.m. Deputies attempted to locate a Portland resident suffering from dementia; the individual was found at a Cathlamet business.

May 9 – 2:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was having a seizure. 11:11 a.m. A caller at a Cathlamet business was concerned that an employee who had left the premises was impaired and would return for her vehicle. 11:26 a.m. A caller reported hearing a loud explosion in the Elochoman Valley. 11:28 a.m. A large rock was reported in the westbound lane of SR4 near Nassa Point. 11:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale residence to aid a man who had possibly broken a hip after a fall. 5:29 p.m. A landlord requested a welfare check on an elderly resident with whom he’d had no contact in a few months; deputies made visual contact with the resident. 8:34 p.m. A welfare check was requested at a Puget Island home after an angry juvenile threatened to kill himself. 11:46 p.m. A caller reported a broken lock and open door at a Cathlamet business.

May 10 – 12:02 a.m. A caller complained about on-going harassment. 8:48 a.m. A man was seen reading in the paper recycle bin on Puget Island. 11:25 a.m. Two dogs without identification were found at County Line Park.

May 11 – 8:00 a.m. A Rosedale resident lost power after hearing a loud explosion; the PUD was notified. 5:21 a.m. A motorcyclist using excessive speed eluded pursuit on SR 4 east of KM. 7:12 p.m. A caller reported an assault at an NA meeting. 8:48 p.m. A Grays River resident reported receiving an angry phone call from someone who had mistakenly believed that she had hit his vehicle. 9:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet resident who was ill.
