Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 5 – 11:30 a.m. The sheriff’s office was notified that a motor vehicle accident would be simulated in Skamokawa as part of a wilderness survival course. 2:10 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Rosburg resident with respiratory issues. 3:11 p.m. Deputies, the Skamokawa Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a motorcyclist who had a possible broken leg after running into a guard rail on the east side of KM Mountain. 5:23 p.m. A stranger turned up at a Cathlamet residence claiming to be a beekeeper. He told the resident that the request for service had come from someone in Longview; he left after being confronted. 8:41 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an Elochoman Valley resident who had threatened to commit suicide and was not answering the phone; he was located after an extensive search and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to provide aid to the individual.

May 13 – 1:23 a.m. A welfare check was requested for children who were believed to be home alone in the Elochoman Valley; deputies investigated and found them with a babysitter. 8:12 a.m. A Skamokawa parent requested assistance with a juvenile. 10:45 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported receiving a fraudulent check in the mail. 1:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident after a medical alert was activated. 1:36 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported ongoing harassment from three individuals. 4:29 p.m. A juvenile at a Grays River residence was threatening to kill people; a representative from mental health was notified and en route. 8:52 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Cathlamet home.

May 14 – 1:04 a.m. A possible drunk driver was sighted on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 8:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid and transport a Rosedale resident with an abdominal problem. 11:23 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a woman who was lying face down on a grave at the cemetery in Cathlamet. 12 noon: A caller reported seeing a suspicious man with a wheelbarrow looking into a window of an Elochoman Valley residence. 2 p.m. The sheriff’s office notified a local resident that her stolen vehicle had been found. 6:35 p.m. A man was seen standing in the middle of SR 4 attempting to get a ride just east of Cathlamet. 7:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley juvenile who was in a lot of pain.

May 15 – 11:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an incoherent diabetic Cathlamet resident. 12:55 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was unable to move. 2:01 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a couple in the Rosburg area; the caller was concerned for the man’s safety as he wandered along a busy road near his parked car, disengaged from the woman who was trying to talk to him while she waited inside the vehicle. 9:39 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported being harassed via text messages.

May 16 – 5:23 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Rosburg resident who had fallen. 12:16 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that a vehicle had been vandalized. 1:53 p.m. A caller reported a disabled log truck in the Grays River area. 3:05 p.m. A caller, advised by Children's Protective Services, reported that a student at the elementary school was worried about going home after a witnessing a recent altercation at the residence. 4:05 p.m. An ATV rider “blew” through a school bus stop paddle in Skamokawa. 6:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the jail to aid a man who had fallen and begun twitching. 7:06 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that two motors, a jacket and a BB gun had been stolen. 8:26 p.m. Four elk were seen limping in the Skamokawa area.

May 17 – 3:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident who was ill. 3:28 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 8:53 a.m. A Rosedale resident threatened suicide; a representative from mental health responded. 11:36 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department established a landing zone for a Medix ambulance and Life Flight at the school ball field. 4:07 The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a diabetic Rosedale resident; deputies responded when the individual became combative. 7:05 p.m. A traffic accident was reported when a vehicle struck the building of a Rosedale business; there were no injuries reported.

May 18 – 1:01 a.m. A suspicious man was seen in the Skamokawa area. 7:34 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a medical alarm was activated at a Skamokawa residence. 8:52 a.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle on SR 4 near the school access road. 9:42 a.m. A burglar alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. 10:35 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and partially blocking the roadway on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 11:18 a.m. A man was taken into custody after a report of domestic violence at a Rosedale residence. 2:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was on standby for a practice burn in the Elochoman Valley. 4:51 p.m. A caller reported that a boat was sinking at the marina; a vessel salvage agency was en route. 9:03 p.m. A Skamokawa resident complained that he was unable to collect his child from family despite having legal custody. 10:07 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported hearing a burglar alarm activated at a vacant house nearby. 10:30 p.m. A caller reported seeing a car parked off the road in several locations in recent days in the Deep River area.
