Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 17 – 2:30 a.m. Dispatch received a 911 call from a Rosedale residence. The caller hung up, and multiple attempts to call back went straight to voicemail. When the call was finally connected, the subject was surprised and in a hurry to end the conversation. A deputy investigated and discovered that caretakers were at residence while homeowners were away. 9:10 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained of respiratory problems triggered by smoke coming from a neighbor’s property. Upon investigation it was discovered that the neighbor had a valid slash burn permit from DNR; DNR said they would have a local fire coordinator contact the complainant. 11:31 a.m. A juvenile assaulted a sibling and was taken to Health and Human Services for an evaluation. 5:30 p.m. A deputy assisted a driver who had run out of gas on Puget Island. 6:40 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River woman who had abdominal pain.

June 18 – 12:27 p.m. A vehicle was stolen from a Puget Island residence. 12:48 p.m. A deputy and a representative from Health and Human services did a welfare check on a Rosedale resident. 1:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident. 2:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River youth who had fallen from a swing and hurt her tailbone. 5:49 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained that neighbor’s dogs were causing damage to her property. 7:03 p.m. A deputy responded to a Cathlamet residence when a juvenile was reported to be “out of control.” 7:13 p.m. A landlord on Puget Island made a complaint about a renter after items on property were found to be broken or missing.

June 19 – 12:43 a.m. A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Puget Island. After investigation, a deputy declared the report “unfounded.” 12:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who had gone into labor. 8:16 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported an unknown and suspicious vehicle driving around the area and trespassing on private property. 10:53 a.m. A landlord on Puget Island made a complaint about a renter after items on property were found to be broken or missing. 11:40 a.m. A motorist complained that a bright orange logging truck was heading westbound on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area at a high rate of speed while honking at slower vehicles and tailgating. 1:10 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported receiving harassing phone calls from someone pretending to be from the IRS. 1:31 p.m. A caller reported low visibility on SR 4 near County Line Park due to a burn. 2:06 p.m. A resident with a protection order requested that a deputy stand by while she collected property from a home. 2:21 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported an unknown and suspicious vehicle driving around the area and trespassing on private property. 5:36 p.m. A motorist reported that a vehicle heading eastbound on SR 4 near Seal River Road was going under the speed limit and not allowing others to pass. 7:05 p.m. District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who may have had a stroke; LifeFlight was activated and picked up the resident at Mill Creek.

June 20 – 8:53 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported receiving threats by phone. 10:13 a.m. A caller reported an unwanted individual on the premises; a deputy made contact. The individual was attempting to deliver clothes and serve civil process papers. 10:57 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported receiving threats by phone; the resident said that he was now carrying a gun and would use it if he saw the person making the threats. 1:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to assist a man who had sustained a bad cut to his head. 1:21 p.m. After hearing a gunshot, a caller reported that a man sitting in a running vehicle at the city water tank in the Elochoman Valley was no longer there, though the vehicle was still running; upon investigation, a deputy found the complaint unfounded: The man in the vehicle was from the water department. 2:41 p.m. A caller reported a cow on a Puget Island roadway. 3:52 p.m. Fire alarms were tested at the county shop. 5:38 p.m. A subject was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 6:57 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by a woman outside a Rosedale business.

June 21 – 7:14 a.m. A caller reported that a live power line was on roof of home; the PUD was notified. 11:35 a.m. District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet resident who was unresponsive; LifeFlight was activated. 12:21 p.m. A caller reported an oil spill in the Cathlamet Channel; the Coast Guard notified the National Response Corporation. 2:19 p.m. A caller reported that an individual with special needs was missing. 2:45 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that a suspicious vehicle had been using his driveway to turn around at odd times for several days.

June 22 – 5:31 a.m. A power outage was reported in the Elochoman Valley; the PUD was notified. 11:37 a.m. A caller reported that someone was taking property from a home in Rosedale; a deputy investigated. The subjects were ordered to unload the truck and return the property, given a verbal warning for trespass, and told they would be subject to arrest if they did not go through proper court procedures to retrieve the property. 5:32 p.m. A caller reported the theft of several items from a Puget Island residence.
