School sports are afoot in the county

The kids are getting back into the routine of school buses, school work, school sports schedules and all that other school related fun stuff.

 

 

School to start next Wednesday

t's hard to believe that school will be starting soon, September 1, so Fall sports will be in full swing right off the bat and it will be time to watch for school buses and kids on their way to school in the morning and back home in the afternoon.

 

 

Time to enjoy the 102nd county fair

The 102nd Wahkiakum County Fair has begun, but for many of the volunteers and those entering things and getting ready to open booths, the work began ages ago.

 

 

County fair opens in just two weeks

As this week begins, Sunday was warming up real quick. Our morning clouds that had been hanging around almost all day recently, gave way to sun so it was feeling quite warm to me as I was attacking the weeds in my flower beds.

As this work week begins, it's pretty cloudy in the morning, but the cloudiness is not supposed to mean any rain.

 

 

Reunions and Finn Fest this weekend

As this week began, we saw lots of clouds and many complained about not seeing the sun, but it really was perfect weather for outside work as it was dry, around 70 and it kept the "it's too hot outside" excuses away from those who were intent on getting some yardwork done.

 

 

Get ready for Bald Eagle Days weekend

It depended on where you were this weekend as to the weather that you had, as some places were sunny, hot and dry and others were cloudy, misty and overcast all day and some had a little of both.

 

 

Summer weather is hard to adjust to

By the time you read this, we are supposed to be experiencing some hot, hot, hot weather and I can hear people complaining already.

s our work week began, so did Summer, but considering it was mostly cloudy and wet, it wasn't the start to Summer that most of us had envisioned.

Last Saturday was certainly gorgeous and it got flat hot outside. My skin starting turning dark pink after a short time of being out in my flower beds.

 

 

Sturgeon derby, car show huge success

No matter that it was raining last Friday or that it was just an all day soaker on Sunday, what really mattered was that on Saturday, the Wahkiakum Dollars for Scholars annual car show and sturgeon derby was basking in sunshine all day long.

Well, most of this past Memorial weekend was pretty damp I'm afraid.

 

 

Grange to get security system after 60 years

-It's hard to believe that we're at the end of another month and well into Spring, but we are still experiencing plenty of rain.

Popcorn popper theft a real shame

Sadly, our Skamokawa Grange is missing an item that had been purchased so that the entire community could enjoy it: a commercial popcorn maker.

Our sunshine has been sort of hit and miss lately, and the days that had been forecast for sunny last week, were pretty spotty.

I think Saturday took a lot of us by surprise, as we'd heard there was just a chance of a shower.

 

 

Free movie night Saturday at grange

We had a pretty nice weekend, although there was rain in the middle of the night on Saturday, but that was okay because it was sunny during the daylight hours and that's all that mattered to most of us.
