Comets win, lose in Ilwaco Tourney
The Naselle Comets lost 57-41 to the Pe Trojans Monday in the opening of the Ilwaco Holiday Tournament.
They rebounded Tuesday with a 71-60 win over G.P. Vanier Secondary School of Vancouver, B.C.
Against Pe Ell, Austin Burkhalter led the Comet scoring with 17 points. Manny Lopez added 12, Drew Macy and Ollie Baker four each, and Leonel Mendoza, Jesus Martinez and Alan Erickson two each.
Against Vanier, Lopez led the scoring with 21 points; he also had 11 rebounds. Also scoring were Baker with 12, Macy and Erickson with 10 each, Mendoza six, Burkhalter five, and John Hines, Martinez, Marcos Herrera with two each.
Mule boys crush Clatskanie
The Wahkiakum Mules rolled to an 89-55 victory over the Clatskie Tigers on Tuesday.
Cody Olsen led the scoring with 32 points. Wyatt Parker added 16, Justin McClain 14, Ty Bain eight, Bradlee Pugh and John Chambers six each, Trow Howard three, and Brett Chaput and Ryan Helms two each.
Clatskanie Tigers nip Lady Mules
The Clatskanie Lady Tigers edged the visiting Wahkiakum Lady Mules 48-43 on Tuesday.
Jordyn Wirkkala led the Mule attack with 13 points; she also had 10 rebounds. Halie Boyce scored 12 points, Ashley Helms seven, Brieanna Olsen five, Evelyn Clark four, and Shelby Felton and Blaine Land one each.
