The host Adna Pirates handed the Wahkiakum Mule basketball team a 60-50 loss last Saturday despite another record setting performance by Mule senior Cody Olsen. Olsen scored 22 points to become the Mules' all-time scoring leader with 1,539 points. He broke a record which his father, Mule Coach Bill Olsen, set in 1979 with 1,528 points. The Mules led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter and trailed 23-19 at halftime. They outscored the Pirates 15-13 in the third quarter, but Adna racked up a 24-16 advantage in the fourth quarter. Mule scoring was Olsen 22, John Chamber 15, Wyatt Parker six, Justin McClain five, and Brad Pugh two. Olsen also had eight rebounds and four steals. The win gave the Pirates first place in Central League standings. The Mules closed out the season last night (Wednesday) at Napavine after The Eagle went to press. The winner will end up in third place in league standings.
