Winter fisheries set
The Columbia River Compact set a variety of commercial and recreational winter fisheries when it met in December.
--Commercial white sturgeon: January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5 and 12.
--Recreational white sturgeon, above Wauna lines: Thursday through Sunday January 1-July 31 and October 1-December 31.
--Recreational white sturgeon, below Wauna lines: All week long, January 1-April 30 and May 10-June 24 or until the guideline is met.
--Commercial mainstem smelt: Mondays and Thursday, January 1-March 31, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
--Recreational mainstem smelt: All week long, January 1-March 31, 25 lbs. per person.
--Commercial tributary smelt: Cowlitz River, Sunday and Wednesday, January 1-March 31.
--Recreational tributary smelt: Cowlitz River, Saturdays only January 1-March 31, 10 lbs. per person.
The next compact meeting is January 24, 10 a.m., Water Resources Education center, Vancouver.
