High school track season starts Monday
The Wahkiakum High Sschool Mule Track team's first day of practice is Monday, Coach Mike Riley announced this week.
Riley said practice starts at 3:30 pm at the football stadium. The practice will start with a team meeting followed by a light work out.
"I am anticipating another outstanding track season and encourage everyone to turn out," he said. "There is something for everyone in track and field.
"Last year our girls placed third at state; with most everyone returning we may be able to place higher. We should have some really good teams again this year for both the boys and girls teams."
To be eligible to practice each athlete must have passed a sports physical with the doctor's signed authorization, Riley said. The signed certificate has to be submitted to the high school office. No one is allowed to practice with the team until this is done.
To be eligible to compete in the first track meet March 15, a signed athletic code form must be completed by the athlete and parent/guardian. The signed document has to be on file in the office before the athlete can compete in meets.
To be eligible the athlete has to have 10 practices and have a current WHS student body card.
