Butler Hansen house hosts local photographer
The Julia Butler Hansen Center is sponsoring an Art Show on Saturday (April 12), featuring photographs by Cathy Russ of Raymond. Russ will be at the Center for a "Meet the Artist" reception from 2 - 4 p.m.
Master Gardeners and David Hansen will also be in the Hansen Garden from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tours and to answer spring gardening questions.
Russ' art studies began in high school and continued into college. She studied graphic design and photography at New Mexico State University, then she moved to the Willapa Valley where she continues her work attending workshops and seminars to continue her education. Many of her photographs are taken locally, as well as during her travels. Russ has been commissioned for her work in photography, pen and ink and mixed media collages.
In the 2004 Photographer’s Forum “Best of Photography – Annual," one of her photographs, “Looking Through,” is featured.
Russ' art may be seen at The Gallery in the Warehouse at South Bend, and at Waterfront Artist Market at the Port of Ilwaco.
