Sailboat races in Cathlamet
Around the buoy sailboat races will be held on May 24 during Memorial Day weekend in Cathlamet.
These races will include a separate "not flying sails" start and PHRF handicapping.
The emphasis, besides fun, will be for shorter courses and with more starts. The number of classes and races will depend on the number of entrants and weather which will be determined at the noon skipper's meeting.
This one day of racing is the only activity during the Astoria Yacht Club's Memorial weekend cruise that is open to all boaters. The entrance fee is $20 for non-members. The trophy presentation will follow at an hors d'oeuvres potluck that includes margaritas courtesy of Astoria Yacht Club.
