My deepest condolences to Lori, Kaelee and the rest of the Dearmore family on the sad loss of Jon. He was a friend to all and his community service will never be outdone. He did much to get the Westend of our county recognized in a positive manner. May he rest in peace.

I had hoped to start my column back up much sooner than this but I must say, it has taken some time to get back to any sense of normalcy since Del’s stroke. He is making progress daily with his right side movement in his leg and arm and is beginning to say a few words. This has been an extreme blow to a man who always had something to say. With his will and determination he will prevail—no doubt.

Mark your calendar for November 10 and the annual Holiday Bazaar at the Rosburg Hall sponsored by the Rosburg Community Club. There is still time to rent a space for your own holiday sales. Lots of things going on in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park so why not check them out. It’s a little late to talk about it but I just wanted to let everyone know that missed the Oktoberfest Saurbrauten dinner, it was wonderful. Next year’s will be even better and we hope to have even more attendees. It was Delvin’s first outing after coming home from the hospital and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the company

Looking for a fun, friendly and free evening? The Grays River Valley Center is hosting free movies (classical black and white for the time being) on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. Concessions are also available for your pleasure. Last week’s movie was The Manchurian Candidate and thoroughly enjoyed by about a dozen folks. For more information please call 465-2310.

Grays River United Methodist Church celebrates its 50th anniversary of the church in its present location on November 18 at 10 a.m. A special service is planned to honor this occasion and the residents of this area that used their skills and funds to build the church. A potluck dinner will be prepared by the ladies of the church following the service. Everyone is welcome.
