50th anniversary for Grays River church

News from Naselle:

Sports for the Naselle teams this week include: Thursday (today)-middle school girls basketball with South Bend in Naselle at 5:45 p.m .; Monday-middle school girls basketball at Raymond at 5:45 p.m .; Tuesday-middle school girls basketball with Ocosta in Naselle at 5:45 p.m. Go, Comettes!

Students will be released early tomorrow; November 19, 20 and 21 for parent-teacher conferences.

The Comet Booster Club will host a bingo night tomorrow beginning at 6 p.m.

Members of the Naselle-Grays River School Board will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Other news from the Westend:

The Grays River United Methodist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary at its present location on November 18 at 10 a.m. A very special service is planned to honor this milestone and to honor the area residents who provided their skills and funds to build the church. A potluck dinner will be prepared by the ladies of the church following the service. Everyone is welcome.


Lots to do at the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park: Monday, join the card group for a friendly afternoon of playing pinochle; Tuesday and Thursday, yoga with Jack Braman at 5:30 p.m .; Monday and Wednesday, aerobics with Jeanne Braman at 5:30 p.m .; Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m., open sewing with Arlene Stefan in the sewing room; Thursday afternoons meet with the TOPS (take off pounds sensibly at 2 p.m. in the exercise room; library and computer center is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m .; enjoy a free movie every Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the activity room with concessions available.


Remember this building is being maintained and open for the benefit of everyone in the community. Please utilize it, and if you are so inclined, we could use more volunteers. If you are interested, please call me at 465-2960.

On November 29 seniors can bring their Medicare and Social Security questions to the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park, where Anita Hopkins with Community Services will be available to answer those inquiries at 1:00 p.m. in the Health and Human Services room (#7).

Enjoy a great meal with your senior neighbors and friends on Wednesdays with the Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch at Rosburg Hall. Lunches are prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer helpers.


Nutritious meals are served on Tuesdays and Thursdays to our senior population at the Rosburg Hall and are sponsored by CAP. The menus for the coming week include: Thursday, the 15th-chicken Divan, roasted potatoes, Capri Veggies, sliced melon and pudding; Tuesday, the 20th-beef pot roast, steamed potatoes, glazed carrots and strawberry/rhubarb crisp; no lunch will be served on Thursday, the 22nd—Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Next week we will celebrate one of my favorite family holidays-Thanksgiving. With our trips to Vancouver twice a week, I’m not sure what we will be doing this year, but whatever it is we will be giving thanks for all we have. Family and friends are so precious, especially when you really need them. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday.
