Lady Mules split with South Bend, Naselle

Visiting South Bend took an early lead and never looked back enroute to a 63-47 win over the Wahkiakum Lady Mules last Friday.

South Bend led 17-5 at the end of the first quarter on a combination of hot shooting and domination under the boards.

The Mules outscored the visitors 11-9 in the second quarter to narrow the margin to 26-16 at halftime. They narrowed the South Bend's lead to nine in the third quarter, but South Bend went on a run and closed out the third quarter with a 46-27 lead.

Sophomore Sam Boyce led the Mule scoring with 20 points. Haylee Budd put in eight; Tori Wegdahl and Baylee Olsen each had four; Hailey Quigley and Rachel Patching each scored three, and Maya Stanley and Kaylee Bryant each had two. Olsen had six rebounds and four assists, and Stanley made six steals and five rebounds.

Lady Mules 48, Naselle Comettes 33


The Mules opened the season with a 48-33 win at Naselle on November 28.

The Mules dominated play, leading 17-8 at the end of the first quarter and 22-10 at halftime.

Olsen led the scoring with 21 points. Boyce and Budd each had six, Quigley and Wegdahl had four each; Stanley, Madison LaBerge and Jessica Thomas all had two, and Patching one.

For the Comettes, Kayti Nelson had 10, Katie Green eight, Ciara Sandell seven, Kendra Leeland and Mckenzie Matthews three each, and Haley Pine two.

The Mules entertained Winlock last night (Wednesday). They go to Napavine on Friday and entertain Pe Ell next Wednesday.
