Other news from the Westend:

Check out the sewing room at the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. Sewing machines are available for your use, and someone is available if you have questions or need help with a project. Contact Arlene Stefan or go to the sewing room at the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

On January 20, the Johnson Park Advisory Board will host a Chili, Chowder and Chicken Noodle Soup supper at the Grays River Valley Center from 1-4 p.m. Included on the menu will be chili, cornbread, chicken noodle soup and clam chowder with crackers. Donations will gladly be accepted for this meal. Bring the family and meet the board members. Check out all the activities that are ongoing at the center, and let us know what we can do to make it more user-friendly. This is your activity center and we hope you will use it.

Tickets are now available from advisory board members for a spaghetti dinner at Johnson Park to be held on March 9. Tickets cost $10 and include spaghetti, salad, French bread, dessert and a beverage. A silent auction will also take place.

The board members are looking for auction items for the dinner. If you have an item that you would like to donate, please call Penny Gregory at 465-2775.

The Grays River Valley Library and Computer Center hours have changed. The new hours will be Mondays from 3-7 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1-5 p.m.

Our library/computer center is free to everyone in the community and is manned by volunteers. Come on in and meet our volunteers, check out all the fiction, non-fiction and reference books as well as audio books, movies, children’s section and free internet access. You might even like it enough that you will want to volunteer a couple of hours each week.

Lunches are served three days a week at the Rosburg Hall to our senior citizens. The Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets at noon on Wednesdays for a nutritious meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew. On Tuesdays and Thursdays lunches are served and are sponsored by CAP. We are very fortunate in this community to have wholesome meals for our seniors.
