Lady Mules fall to Trojans, Timberwolves, Loggers

January 24, 2013

The Lady Mules suffered a difficult week with three straight losses to Central League opponents.

On Tuesday the Lady Mules suffered a frustrating 49-33 loss to visiting Onalaska.

“Our offense just wasn’t there tonight,” said Coach Rob Garrett. “We’ve got to be able to score. Onalaska plays tough defense.”

Haylee Budd scored seven points for the Mules, Sam Boyce six, Kaylee Bryant and Tori Wegdahl five apiece; Maya Stanley and Hailey Quigley tossed in four, and Baylee Olsen had two. Tori Wegdahl pulled down seven rebounds; Kaylee Bryant had six, and Sam Boyce and Hailey Quigley each had four.

Last Saturday the Mules lost 44-39 to the visiting Morton/White Pass Timberwolves.

Boyce led the Mule scoring with 17 points; she also had four rebounds and three assists. Olsen and Stanley each scored five. Wegdahl, Budd and Bryant each chipped in four points. Wegdahl had six rebounds; Bryant pulled down five and Budd had four.

“We played a great first half,” said Coach Garrett. “We moved the ball around well on offense, really worked hard on defense. [The Timberwolves] struggled against it.

"We always seem to have one ‘let down’ quarter. We can’t do that. We need to play four quarters. We weren’t making them work on offense. We stopped talking. Fourth quarter was better. We did pick it up, started playing with some intensity and passion.”

On January 17, the Mules lost 68-37 in Pe Ell. The Trojans led 20-7 after one quarter and 40-21 at halftime.

Boyce and Olsen each scored 11, Wegdahl eight, Stanley four, Bryant two and Morgan Elliott one. Wegdahl had nine rebounds and three assists, and Bryant pulled down eight rebounds.

The team’s next game is January 29 at Mossyrock. The team will be using this time to regain the fitness level they had achieved prior to the bout of illness that had affected them over the last couple weeks.

They go to Toutle Lake on January 31 and entertain Adna February 2 in their final home game of the regular season.
