Audubon Society offers birding programs

February 7, 2013

The Willapa Hills Audubon Society (WHAS) is hosting two events this month for local birders.

Biologist and expert birder Carlo Abbruzzese will lead the group’s monthly Lake Sacajawea Bird Walk this Saturday. The walk begins at eight a.m. at the Hemlock Square located off Kessler Blvd. and Hemlock Street in Longview. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and to bring binoculars if available.

Children and new birders are especially encouraged to attend the Great Backyard Bird Count on February 16. WHAS is promoting this national citizen science activity with a program at noon at the Longview Public Library. After a presentation, attendees will take a trip outside to practice identifying common urban birds.
