Mules split with Mossyrock

March 28, 2013

The Wahkiakum Mule baseball team split a double-header with Mossyrock this past week, losing the opener 11-1 in six innings on Friday and winning game two 4-2, with four innings played Friday night and the remaining 2 ½ innings Monday evening.

In the opener, Steven Doumit reached base on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning, stole third base and eventually scored the Mules’ lone run.

Gunnar Blix recorded the Mules’ only hit, also in the fifth inning, and stole one base. Dallas Peacock walked in all three plate appearances.

Peacock took the loss on the hill for the Mules. In the win, Lars Blix delivered the blow in the first inning with a two-run home run, knocking in Doumit. The other two runs were scored by Doumit and Gunnar Blix in the third after both reached base via walk.

Lars Blix (pictured below) pitched a complete game, striking out four and surrendering two runs on four hits.
