8th Annual Dollars for Scholars Rods & Reels Car Show

This weekend marks the 8th year of the Rods & Reels Car show held at the fairgrounds in Skamokawa. Each year hundreds of unique vehicles attend to celebrate cars and enjoy some good old fashioned BBQ. If you’re a car owner wanting to participate, registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and finishes at 11.30 a.m. There is a minimum charge of $25 (this includes a meal ticket) but admission is free for all spectators. The award ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and includes over 60 trophies.

Bring the whole family for the show and enjoy games, a D.J. and raffles. Children are also invited to fish for trout in the pond. For more information contact Lee Tischer 360-430-4377 or via email tisch@cni.net.

Managed by local volunteers, this annual fundraiser generates scholarship funds, working to increase educational opportunities for local residents. If you’re unable to attend but would like to donate to Dollars for Scholars contact Lee Tischer at 360-460-4377.

This year marks the six anniversary of the strawberry shortcake booth the Buennagel family voluntarily run to help raise money for Dollars for Scholars. All proceeds for the day will go directly to Dollars for Scholars. So when you finish your BBQ on Saturday make sure you stop over at Sharon’s and enjoy some freshly made strawberry shortcake.
